Seekers (Grades 1-2)
Our Seekers (Grades 1-2) Religious Education program is for our youngest students. Our Elementary Religious Education sessions are designed to be engaging, interactive experiences for students, and to equip parents to be the primary educators (first witnesses) of faith for their children. Seekers uses the Discover materials from St. Mary’s Press, which uses the Catholic Youth Bible.
Sessions meet approximately every other week, at the same times as Explorers (Gr. 3-4), Pathfinders (Gr. 5-6), and Navigators (Gr. 7-8).
Melissa Gozzo is the Coordinator for Seekers, Explorers, and First Eucharist / First Reconciliation (Gr. 2-4).
We have piloted, in the past, an optional Kindergarten program. This was discontinued due to lack of interest.
We are always looking for additional opportunities to serve the younger members of our community and their families. If you have suggestions, ideas, or want to be a part of this ministry, please speak with a member of the BCRE Staff.
Comments about First Reconciliation / First Eucharist
In order to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, children must have participated in one year of religious education and be enrolled in their second year (either the live class, or through our Home Study program).
Preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist is done with supplemental sacramental preparation materials that are distributed to enrolled families, which is closely related to the curriculum of Seekers.
