Our Seekers (Gr. 2) Religious Education program is specifically designed for students and their families who are in the process of preparing to receive First Reconciliation (Penance, Confession) and First Eucharist (Communion). Those students who have participated in one year of Young Disciples will be receiving First Reconciliation and First Eucharist while they are enrolled in Seekers. Those students who are in their first year of Religious Education (and either second or third grade in school) participate in Seekers this year and will finish their preparation and receive these sacraments the following year.
Preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist is done with supplemental sacramental preparation materials that are distributed to second year families, which is closely related to the curriculum of Seekers.
Our Elementary Religious Education sessions are designed to be engaging, interactive experiences for students and their parents. Beginning in the fall of 2019, Seekers will use the Discover materials from St. Mary’s Press.
Melissa Gozzo is the Coordinator for Young Disciples, Seekers, and First Eucharist / First Reconciliation (Gr. 2-4).
Sessions meet approximately every other week, at the same times as the Young Disciples (K-1) and Explorers (Gr. 3-4) programs meet. Our Elementary programs alternate using our spaces with the Pathfinders (Gr. 5-6), Navigators (Gr. 7-8) and High School / Confirmation programs.
